The truffle (Tartuffe) is a rare type of underground mushroom, which coexists and grows on the roots of certain species of trees or shrubs. Their survival depends on trees and shrubs, creating a relationship called “mycorrhizal symbiosis”, from which both parties benefit. The symbiosis is mostly specific in forest species such as cedar, hazelnuts, pine, holly poplars, oaks, willows and firs.
The truffle hunters have many dogs skillfully trained to sniff out precious truffles. Enjoy a pleasant stroll in the beautiful countryside, with plenty of time to enjoy the views and watch the dogs at work. Our dogs love truffle hunting as much as you will! Enjoying watching the dogs come and go – hopefully bringing us plenty of truffles. Sometimes it’s surprisingly easy, other times quite a challenge, but we stroll until we have enough truffles for a delicious lunch by the river!
Discover the gorgeous lake of Aoos’ springs with the mountain tops of Pindos unfolding around you. Take a deep breath, feel the fresh air, quench your thirst with cool water from the mountain springs. Discover the unspoiled nature around Metsovo with organized biking excursions. Private and personalized excursions. Relax and enjoy the gorgeous landscape of the lake by bicycle, an experience that you will never forget. If you go in winter there is great chance to see the landscape in snow, a visual spectacle sure to take your breath away.
SUP means stand up paddling, and if you can pronounce it in Greek then you can do it!
Stand-up paddling was initially based on Polynesian fishermen who rode upright in their canoe. Later, it was “reborn” in Hawaii by Surf teachers and slowly conquered the hearts of all those who love sports, fun and of course water! SUP is a combination of rowing and surfing. Due to the fact that it is a water sport, as well as the fact that everyone can practice it, makes it a very popular and pleasant sport with lots of benefits.
3-hours easy hike which crosses the old villages and stone-built bridges. During the hike we will visit an old traditional house that has been turned into a museum. We will have an interesting talk about the unique architecture of Zagori’s stone built villages. We will also have the opportunity to see rare herb collections which were used by local doctors aka ‘Vikogiatroi’ for medical and cooking purposes.
Pic nick lunch during the hike. After the hike, we will visit the natural pools of Bayiotiko stream, near Kipi village, for a swim and relax. Afternoon Back to the hotel.
